Molecular Biology and Evolution (MAMBE) Master’s Programme

The international Master’s programme in Molecular Biology and Evolution (MAMBE) brings together molecular biology and evolutionary biology to provide a comprehensive understanding of biological processes. Taught entirely in English, the programme promotes interdisciplinary thinking and connects fundamental research with perspectives in evolutionary medicine and translational biology.

MAMBE combines advanced coursework with extensive hands-on research experience. Students explore current topics in molecular and evolutionary biology, develop expertise in genomics, biostatistics and scientific communication, and gain practical experience through laboratory and field research internships. The programme culminates in an independent Master’s thesis.

MAMBE benefits from close collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Plön and research networks including EvoLUNG, the Collaborative Research Centre 1182 and TransEvo.

Graduates will be well prepared for doctoral research and careers in academia, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medicine, agriculture, diagnostics, research institutions and public authorities.
