Medical Life Sciences Master’s Programme
The Institute of Experimental Medicine is actively involved in the new Master’s programme offered by the Faculty of Medicine at Christian-Albrechts-University, which bridges the gap between natural sciences and medicine. Students are introduced to clinical research from the ground up; they learn how to investigate diseases, understand their molecular mechanisms, and apply research findings to the prevention, diagnosis, and—ultimately—treatment of conditions, particularly so-called lifestyle diseases.
The Medical Life Sciences program focuses on inflammation, cancer, neurological disorders, aging, and evolutionary medicine as key areas of specialization. Covering everything from molecular biology fundamentals and laboratory experiments to data analysis and specialized study, the program approaches molecular disease research from a fresh educational perspective. Teaching and research in the field of disease research are deliberately integrated, with the program planned and taught jointly by basic scientists and clinicians.
